Job description

Job Description:ย  The EL/Bilingual Resource Teacher shall provide instruction to help potentially English proficient (PEP) students develop cognitive, academic, and language abilities in Spanish and English. The teacher will provide pull-out and push-in services to small groups of students ranging from K-8.

Primary responsibilities:

ย 
  • Identify and assess the academic level, language proficiency level, cultural history, and linguistic history of students who are eligible for bilingual services

  • Provide bilingual instruction to small groups of students in grades K-8 using a collaborative TBE model (pull-out or push-in services based on student need)

  • Collaborate with the EL Department to ensure best practices through service delivery

  • Make recommendations as to the best placement within the Transitional Bilingual Program (full-time or part-time)

Requirements: Must meet ONE of the following ISBE requirements for a bilingual educator:ย  Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish ORย  Educator License with Stipulations (ELS-VIT) with a passing score on the English proficiency test OR ELS-TBE with bilingual education endorsement in Spanish OR Short Term Approval (PEL with 9 hours of coursework in bilingual education or a passing score on the Spanish language proficiency test).
