We are seeking Hungarian Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Hungarian, a Uralic language spoken in Hungary and across Central/Eastern Europe, is a priority European language often needed in asylum, refugee, and immigration-related cases.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Hungarian ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
  • Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and cultural sensitivity in immigration and asylum contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics standards.
  • Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation calls.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Hungarian and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, medical, legal, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality standards.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
