Job description

Renown Health and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) are recruiting a Board Eligible/Board Certified Physician Assistant to join our Trauma Surgery team. 

The Advanced Practice Provider will take 1st call, round and manage trauma patients, including pediatric rounding/consults, in ICU, ER, OR, Ortho/Neuro, Pediatric, and GSU floors. Position requires experience and proficiency in discharge planning, admitting orders, transferring and 1st assisting with trauma surgeries. The incumbent will work closely with trauma surgeons, intensivists, subspecialists, Hospitalists and support staff. 
Renown Regional is a state-of-the-art, 800-bed acute care facility with comprehensive and outpatient services and 24-hour emergency care.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program is required. A Baccalaureate Degree is preferred. 

Experience:

Two years’ experience as physician assistant.

License(s):

Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Physician’s Assistant license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada Required, and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA.

Certification(s):

Board Certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required at time of hire OR maintenance of the NCCPA Board Certification shall align with the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners’ requirements for an active/unrestricted State of Nevada Physician's Assistant license.

Basic Life Support (BLS) AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification, but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Ability to Credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or Payor Credentialing, as applicable.
