We're looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our ever-evolving Heartland School Solutions Engineering Team and help shape the future of global commerce. In this role, you'll build and enhance the technology that powers payment experiences for K-12 schools, helping clients streamline operations, improve reliability and deliver better outcomes for the communities they serve. Your expertise will directly influence the quality, scalability and security of enterprise software solutions while creating opportunities to innovate, modernize and continuously improve how schools manage payments. What you'll own
  • Design and deliver scalable web applications and application programming interfaces (APIs) that enable secure, reliable payment experiences for K-12 clients while supporting long-term product growth and platform performance.
  • Drive software quality and engineering excellence by building maintainable, well-tested solutions that improve system stability, accelerate delivery and reduce operational risk.
  • Influence technical decisions and development standards by identifying opportunities for improvement, sharing expertise and helping elevate code quality across the team.
  • Own the successful delivery of enterprise-ready solutions from concept through production, ensuring business requirements are translated into measurable outcomes for clients and stakeholders.

What you'll bring
  • 5+ years of experience developing Java-based software solutions, with demonstrated success delivering scalable, production-grade applications in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in Spring Boot, RESTful APIs and modern web technologies, including HTML, CSS and JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems, diagnose issues effectively and deliver high-quality solutions that balance business needs with technical excellence.
  • Experience collaborating within Agile Scrum teams, contributing to shared goals while taking ownership of individual outcomes and deliverables.
