Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $87,740 - $116,260.8. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Quality Assurance? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our US QA department. As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer III, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team.

The Quality Assurance organization provides a variety of services aimed at helping our internal customers, which include S&C leaders and team members, deliver superior quality to our customers. Quality planning, inspection, audit, quality information, quality improvement consulting, and quality communications are examples of the kind of services the organization provides.

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer III is a responsible for managing quality-focused projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes and product reliability. This role acts as a liaison between manufacturing and quality teams, driving initiatives to enhance performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Improvement Projects: Lead and execute projects that address manufacturing quality issues and optimize processes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, develop solutions and track progress.
  • Problem Solving Support: Support major problem solving efforts related to production quality, acting as a key contributor and knowledge source for the functions.
  • Customer Escape Containment: Drive customer escape containment and resolution processes by implementing robust corrective actions, collaborating with production, supply chain, and engineering teams to resolve issues, minimize recurrence, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Reduction: Take responsibility for identifying and reducing the cost of poor quality (COPQ), including coordinating production stop and stop-ship activities, performing root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to enhance overall production quality.
  • Documentation Review: Ensure accuracy in prints and acceptance criteria by conducting detailed reviews, addressing defects, and managing disposition and deviation processes to uphold quality standards.

  • Process Optimization: Develop and refine manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce defects.
  • Quality Support & Collaboration: Provide high-level quality support for operations, working closely with production teams to address quality-related issues and drive continuous improvements. Lead the resolution of complex quality issues, utilizing advanced problem-solving tools to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures.
  • Metrics & Feedback Utilization: Utilize quality feedback and metrics to identify opportunities for design and process improvements, driving data-driven decision-making across the company.
  • Team Support: Support other quality engineers in their work, setting standards and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the quality engineering team.
  • Industry Trends & Innovation: Proactively monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant advancements into the company's approach to quality engineering.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a similar technical field
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in quality engineering focusing on manufacturing quality within the electrical industry or a related industry.
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and successfully completing large-scale quality improvement projects. Proven ability to solve complex quality problems and implement effective process improvements. Six Sigma experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), including ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrated experience in process analytics with a broad knowledge of quality tools and industry metrics.

  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the quality function.
  • Great project management skills, able to successfully lead project teams through ambiguity and constantly changing business needs.
  • Sound organizational and multitasking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Sound attention to detail with an analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Sound interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Great communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation). Able to liaise with key stakeholders outside the quality function in technical and non-technical roles and present compelling information to achieve buy-in.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc), including excellent Excel skills and experience using Power BI.

Preferred

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification from ASQ
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field

Environmental and Hazardous Conditions

  • Occasionally working indoors/outdoors in an air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned office/manufacturing/site-based environment.
  • Infrequently exposure to fumes/vapors/dust/gases/odors/mist/toxic chemicals/radiation/vibration/grease/oils/radiation/lasers/other etc.
  • Occasionally exposed to low/moderate/high noise levels including machinery/vehicles/forklifts/office equipment/office traffic etc.
  • Infrequently working around energized equipment with the risk of electrocution/scalding/burns/other etc.
  • Infrequently exposed to wet humid/outdoor weather/extreme cold (non-weather)/extreme heat (non-weather) conditions/other etc.
  • Infrequently working with machinery with moving parts/vehicles/forklifts/heavy machinery/sharp objects/other etc.
