Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Manager plans, directs, and leads the manufacturing engineering and maintenance functions within our JIT Bridgewater Interiors facility in Warren, MI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct plant engineering activities. Monitor new product introduction activities. Manage efforts related to VA/VE initiative.
  • Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives or projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors; this will include and is not limited to calling and running internal and external team project review meetings, writing and maintaining and certain portions of program books, facilitating customer communication, maintaining and publishing open issues, developing and tracking project timing, provide the first level of resolution or inter-project differences and problems affecting project execution and communication, also monitoring TQC/QS9000 requirements for the project. This position has the authority to carry out the basic functions and responsibilities described and supported by the facility's organizational chart.
  • Review project proposal or plant to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Is responsible for the plant's activities concerning VA/VE plans. Coordinates these activities/plans with the appropriate ASG departments.
  • Makes customer presentations relating to timing and product performance and assures that Customer interaction is occurring on a regular basis in these areas, (EWO's TECA, PCR, etc.).
  • Maintains the SDT open issues list. Communicates same to appropriate individuals. Responsible to TQC elements of the project and Phase Five (5) through (9). Identifies and tracks key program issues.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for management, client or others. To include Required Documentation for Production, PCR's ER, EWO and ensures TECA procedures are followed and implemented.
  • Manage product engineering related activities as Program Manager from phase V through phase IX per TQC procedures.
  • Manage product engineering related activities, plant product launch efforts; new programs, AQD, CIP, and QS9000 activities.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Performs other duties deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.
  • Has the authority to stop the production process if a quality or safety concern is noticed.
  • Good Communication skills with customer, equipment vendors, corporate teams, all other plant departments, hourly team members

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • JIT Experience preferred. Automotive experience required.
  • Core Industrial Engineering Skills: Auto Cad, line balance, MODAPTS, PFMEA
  • Priority Management Skills
  • Equipment Understanding: Fanuc robots, Atlas Copco torque tools, Allen Bradley PLCs,
  • 8D, root cause analysis, equipment uptime improvements
  • Communication: Customer, Equipment vendors, corporate teams, all other plant departments, hourly team members
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • 8 - 10 years of manufacturing experience in production manufacturing/assembly
