JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineering Technician - Optical Systems

SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Optical Systems and Lasers Manufacturing Engineering Technician will be a key resource on our Manufacturing Operations team supporting production and Manufacturing Engineers in sustaining and optimizing manufacturing processes, instructions, and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provide on-the-floor training to manufacturing associates on new processes or equipment
  • Assist with training schedule, including training sign off with the trainer and trainee
  • Write, develop, and update work instructions as required
  • Perform and track station maintenance after M.E. has established criteria
  • Understand failure modes and assist in corrective action plan
  • Lead value stream process improvements, flow, mix, pitch, WIP deployment
  • Attend DMM and proactively escalate issues affecting quality
  • Ensure timely movement of parts on/off Manufacturing Hold
  • Assist in expediting work orders through the area and deliver status updates as required
  • Understand the process flow for the area of responsibility
  • Escalate tooling or other manufacturing gaps preventing line down where possible
  • Produce parts for burst or development cycles as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or Technical Associate Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of Technical experience in a manufacturing capacity
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Experience documenting Manufacturing Processes
  • Demonstrated training effectiveness of production staff on new or updated processes
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Organized, motivated, approachable and able to prioritize multiple tasks without direct supervision

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Optical table-top setup and alignment knowledge
  • Opto-mechanical assembly knowledge
  • Experience with power meters, spectrum analyzers, interferometers, CCD/CMOS cameras, and photodiodes
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment & procedures of high-performance imaging systems and light sources
  • Root cause analysis
  • Lean manufacturing and 5S training
  • Tasks completed on time with attention to detail
  • Effective training of production staff
  • This position is a site-based role.

The compensation range for this position is $61,200.00 - $91,800.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
