About the role:

Denver, CO

The Engineer Project Manager II manages capital engineering projects from initiation through completion ("cradle to grave"). You will support both base capital projects at existing generation facilities (natural gas and coal) and capital projects, including large-scale renewable energy systems and major infrastructure upgrades.

You will operate in a hybrid work model, with onsite presence typically Tuesday through Thursday (office or plant) and remote work on Monday and Friday. Work hours are flexible and may vary depending on project needs. You will have regular travel to plant sites throughout the greater Denver area, with occasional travel to sites outside the region and vendor locations. You will report to the Engineering Manager / Manager of Capital Projects (or appropriate functional leader) and work with teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full lifecycle project management including scope development, and closeout
  • Validate project justification and incorporate team member requirements into project scope
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, quality, and safety performance
  • Coordinate procurement activities, including engaging engineering consultants, contractors, and sourcing materials/equipment
  • Oversee project execution with regular field visits to monitor progress and resolve issues
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements for vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • Review and support engineering designs, documentation, and technical drawings
  • Conduct vendor/shop inspections and witness equipment testing
  • Collaborate with teams including operations, environmental, sourcing, project controls, and engineering
  • Facilitate project closeout and successful transition to operations teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • 5-7+ years of engineering experience (preferred for Level II roles)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of project management experience
  • Experience within utility, energy, or oil and gas industries
