The Senior Project Manager is a challenging, dynamic, and customer-facing role that is central to the Custom Engineered Project business at Trojan Technologies. The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the execution of highly complex, engineered-to-order projects, leading multidisciplinary teams from order entry through design, procurement, manufacturing, shipment, including installation and commissioning support, and customer acceptance. In this hands-on role, the incumbent will direct cross-functional teams to deliver projects on scope, on schedule, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with customers to understand their unique requirements, the Sr. PM will define customer design requirements based on contract specifications, manage the approval of the design and release to production. The Sr. PM will also coordinate with supply chain and manufacturing, support service with equipment installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing - ensuring the Trojan solution is delivered per the agreed-to specification, on time, and within budget. The Sr. PM will manage several concurrent custom engineered projects simultaneously, each involving different customers, different teams, with varying contract and technical requirements. Proactively identifying and mitigating project risks, managing scope changes through disciplined change order processes, and tracking each project's schedule, cost, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes for all stakeholders are the primary objectives of this position.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

  • Provide technical expertise to Commercial teams and external Engineering Consultants during the design and engineering phases of custom engineered projects
  • Manage multiple complex, custom Ultraviolet (UV) engineered projects, including ownership of scope, cost, schedule, quality, and risk
  • Provide professional, proactive customer communication, including regular status updates, milestone reviews, and any issue(s) resolution, while managing customer expectations and alignment between customer requirements and project deliverables
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and milestone tracking to ensure on-time delivery
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, maintaining a risk register and escalating issues as required
  • Maintain and improve project margins through effective cost management and change order execution through disciplined evaluation of customer driven scope changes and their impact on cost, schedule and margin as well as securing appropriate internal approvals
  • Monitor and report project financial performance and forecasting

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Advanced technical degree (e.g., Engineering) is highly preferred
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in a custom engineered or engineered-to-order project environment; PMP designation an asset
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects through the full project lifecycle (order entry to commissioning/acceptance)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (mechanical, electrical, P&ID) as well as interpret contracts, technical specifications
  • Knowledge of water treatment plant processes (wastewater, drinking water, and re-use) is a plus
  • Experience in customer relations, contract management, and negotiations
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, ERP systems)
