Job description

Summary:

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing engineering projects that support the development and deployment of solar and data center infrastructure products. This role serves as the liaison between sales, product management, manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of customer-driven solutions.

The ideal candidate brings excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills. This individual will support product development activities, customer-specific projects, product customization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives within Shoals' growing product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering projects from concept through production release, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Coordinate design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain activities for data center infrastructure products.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including bills of material (BOMs), engineering change requests (ECRs), drawings, and project records.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to develop customized and standard power distribution solutions for data center applications.
  • Serve as the primary engineering contact for assigned customer projects.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, testing activities, product validation, and manufacturing launch efforts.
  • Track project milestones, risks, and action items while communicating status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support compliance and certification activities to ensure adherence to applicable UL, NEC, IEC, and IEEE standards.
  • Work closely with Operations and Manufacturing teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities and stage-gate development processes.

Requirements:

  • Experience managing technical projects in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and production documentation.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/PDM systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data center infrastructure, electrical power distribution, switchgear, busway systems, cable management systems, or electrical enclosures.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with UL, NEC, IEEE, and IEC standards.
  • Experience supporting customer-driven engineered-to-order products.
  • PMP certification or formal project management training.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
