Job description

FlexStaff is seeking a Project Manager for our client, a leader in mission-critical power quality solutions.  The Project Manager will take ownership of complex power system projects from order entry through commissioning and closeout. This is a key role central to their commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and technical excellence.

  • Salary: $110k - $120k
  • Location: Middletown, NY (Hybrid)
  • Travel Required

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Project Management, the Project Manager will serve as the primary project authority, working cross-functionally with engineering, service, sales, and customers to deliver systems that include UPS, generators, switchgear, and more -  while maintaining budget, schedule, and scope integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Full Project Ownership: Manage all technical and commercial aspects of assigned projects from order entry through final acceptance.
  • Customer Interface: Serve as the main point of contact for clients and contractors; lead site meetings and coordinate technical communication.
  • Cross-Departmental Leadership: Align Sales, Service, Engineering, Purchasing, and Accounting to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Schedule & Budget Management: Develop project schedules, track milestones, manage invoicing, and ensure profitability targets are met or exceeded.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Oversee the creation and approval of technical documentation, test procedures, submittals, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
  • Testing & Commissioning: Coordinate FAT, startup, and SAT activities; host customer-witnessed testing events (domestic & international).
  • Logistics Oversight: Manage all shipping documentation and coordination of inbound shipments from Germany; oversee vendor quality compliance.
  • Team Oversight: Direct daily site activities, communicate goals to technicians/vendors, review timesheets and expenses, and provide clear direction to ensure compliance with scope and deadlines.
  •  Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve internal project management processes.
  • Project Reporting: Generate and present project reports and critical updates to senior management.
  • Support Service Projects: Step in to manage or support service-led initiatives as needed.
  • Invoice & Payment Management: Supervise project-related billing and assist in resolving payment or contract issues.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical preferred)

Experience:

3-10 years in the design, application, or service of industrial/commercial products - ideally in electrical power or controls

3-5 years of successful experience managing system-level technical projects, including customer/vendor interaction and full project lifecycle execution

Familiarity with contract language, budgeting, scheduling, and commissioning processes for UPS and related systems

Licenses & Certifications:

PMP or PMI certification preferred

OSHA certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Deep understanding of electrical power system components: UPS, generators, switchgear, etc.

Proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project (or equivalent scheduling software)

Skilled in reading/analyzing technical documents, test procedures, and project contracts

Excellent verbal and written communication

Proven leadership and coordination skills with ability to manage cross-functional teams

Ability to direct field teams and external vendors effectively

Strong troubleshooting, cost control, and time management capabilities

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Primary work performed in an office setting with periodic visits to customer and job sites, including active construction environments

Moderate physical activity may be required, including lifting up to 50 lbs and use of test equipment

Must be available for frequent travel (50%) including overnight stays and occasional international trips
