About the Role:
The Construction Project Manager II leads commercial office projects from planning through occupancy. This role manages multiple projects at one time, including office renovations, relocations, and new office buildouts. The Project Manager works closely with business units, consultants, contractors, and internal partners to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with Baird workplace standards. The role also supports process improvements and helps ensure consistency across the project portfolio. Success in this role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to partner effectively with business units while managing consultants, contractors, and project schedules across multiple active projects.
The Impact You'll Make:

  • Lead commercial office construction projects from planning through completion, including new offices, renovations, relocations, and workplace improvement projects
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining project schedules, budgets, scope, quality, and stakeholder alignment
  • Partner with Transaction Management, business units, and other stakeholders to evaluate project needs, office locations, budgets, schedules, and overall project feasibility
  • Coordinate project teams, including architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, furniture vendors, technology teams, security partners, and other internal stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide regular project updates, communicate key decisions, and escalate risks or issues that may impact schedule, budget, or business operations
  • Track and maintain project information within Tango and ensure project documentation is complete and up to date
  • Review design documents and construction plans to ensure alignment with workplace standards, operational requirements, budgets, and applicable building codes
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve project delivery, and enhance project management processes across the portfolio
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including punch list completion, turnover documentation, warranties, operating manuals, and final project records
  • Support workplace transition and hand off activities at project completion
  • Provide guidance and support to project coordinators, interns, consultants, and other project resources as needed

  • The successful candidate will have the education, experience, and skills necessary to manage complex construction projects and partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • 7-10+ years of commercial construction project management experience, preferably with office, workplace, or interior build-out projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% based on business needs


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Milwaukee: $90,200 -$125,100 annual salary range
  • Chicago: $99,200 -$137,700 annual salary range
  • Louisville: $85,700 -$118,900 annual salary range
  • Bonus potential up to 25% of base pay
  • Compensation and bonus are commensurate with location, experience, performance and/or firm profitability
