Position: Senior Project Engineer

The Opportunity:
You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and completing capital and major expense projects throughout the mill. You will also be responsible for assisting in the development of the mill annual capital plan through developing project scopes, estimates, schedules, and other required documents for projects assigned by the Engineering Manager. You will report to the Engineering Manager.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Be engaged in safety programs in the mill as well as targeted efforts in the Engineering Department. This is done through participation in safety meetings, regular audits, and design for safety exercises.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and implementation of a portfolio of capital projects within a process area of the mill.
  • Develop projects from the idea phase through ultimate implementation of the project. This includes soliciting needed information from operations, maintenance, technical and other departments to ensure the projects being developed are the optimum fit for the mill.
  • Lead all aspects of equipment and system selection, procurement, installation, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Execute assigned projects on time, on budget, and delivering the expected results.
  • Develop and lead large maintenance or expense related inspections or repair projects.

What you need to succeed:
  • Engineering Degree or 10 years relevant experience
  • Fundamental understanding of mill processes
  • Good oral and written communications skills, highly skilled in group communication as well as one to one communication. Ability to determine effective and appropriate means of communication
