Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Corning's Photonics Connectivity Solutions (PCS) technology leadership team is seeking an experienced portfolio manager. The job requires leading all aspects of project and program portfolio analysis and forecasting. Working with a global team of engineers and external vendors / contract manufacturing will require flexibility and some travel.

  • Lead the portfolio development, analysis, forecasting, and reporting functions for the PCS technology leader.
  • Coordinate closely with local and global technology leaders on project delivery status, gaps, bottlenecks and resource planning.
  • Manage portfolio workstreams including reporting and analysis tools, work with corporate and business leaders to provide insight into portfolio status.
  • Connect between the teams at different locations and in different functions to develop insight into the portfolio elements and provide guidance for proactive actions to take.
  • Work in a global organization to ensure the right decisions are taken regarding all aspects of technology portfolio management.
  • Interact with the portfolio managers in other teams to develop best practices and improve on the function as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio analysis and develop proposals for actions to take to deliver to business requirements
  • Understand the leadership requirements for this function and deliver analysis and overview and proposed actions as necessary
  • Lead data collection and analysis development to provide the right level of information to leadership.
  • Provide reports and updates as required
  • Work with global teams and external vendor network on portfolio analysis and proposal development for actions to take proactively to address bottlenecks
  • Lead interaction with technology team to develop data reporting for portfolio analysis
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
  • Standard work hours with some flex-time as needed for global interaction
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 30% international travel.
Experiences/Education - Required
  • B.S in Engineering or relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience in Product Development and implementation
  • Experienced in program management and project management tools
  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems by developing creative solutions with an understanding of the underlying principles
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work in teams and lead employees
Skills - Desired
  • M.S. in Engineering or relevant field
  • Knowledge of opto-mechanical technologies and manufacturing
  • Experience with fiber optics
  • Experience with high volume production
  • Track record of engagement with customers

This position supports immigration sponsorship. 

The range for this position is $183,877.00 - $252,831.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
