How much do operations analysts get paid?

The average salary for an Engineering Operations Analyst typically ranges from $60,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and industry. Entry-level roles may start around $50,000, while experienced analysts with specialized skills or certifications can earn over $100,000. Compensation often includes benefits such as bonuses and professional development opportunities.

What does an engineering analyst do?

An engineering operations analyst evaluates and improves engineering processes, often analyzing data to optimize workflows, ensure efficiency, and support project management. They may use tools like data analysis software and require strong problem-solving skills to support engineering teams in achieving operational goals.

How does an Engineering Operations Analyst typically interact with cross-functional teams to improve project workflows?

Engineering Operations Analysts play a crucial role in bridging gaps between engineering, project management, and business teams. They frequently collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze process bottlenecks, and implement workflow improvements. This often involves facilitating meetings, providing data-driven insights, and ensuring that projects align with organizational objectives. Their ability to communicate technical and operational details across departments is vital to streamlining processes and driving project success.

What does an Engineering Operations Analyst do?

An Engineering Operations Analyst is responsible for analyzing and improving the processes, workflows, and systems within engineering departments. They collect and interpret data to identify inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and support the implementation of operational improvements. Their goal is to help engineering teams operate more efficiently, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. They often collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals.

Is SOC 1 entry level?

SOC 1 (Service Organization Control 1) reports are audit reports used to evaluate internal controls at service organizations and are not job roles. For an Engineering Operations Analyst, entry-level positions may require familiarity with compliance standards like SOC 1, but the certification itself is not an entry-level requirement; it is typically pursued by professionals with experience in auditing or controls. Entry-level roles often focus on supporting compliance processes rather than performing the audits themselves.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Engineering Operations Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Engineering Operations Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, a background in engineering or operations, and often a degree in engineering, business, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools, data analysis software (like Excel, SQL, or Tableau), and knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma are typical requirements. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills help analysts collaborate effectively and drive operational efficiency. These skills are crucial for optimizing processes, supporting decision-making, and ensuring successful project delivery within engineering organizations.

Are operations analysts in demand?

Operations analysts, including those in engineering operations, are in demand due to their role in optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and supporting data-driven decision-making. Employers across industries seek professionals with skills in data analysis, process improvement, and familiarity with tools like Excel, SQL, or business intelligence software, making the role generally stable and growing.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Additional experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Experience designing and conducting analytical wargames - including automated, LLM-driven, and tabletop formats - to explore strategy, force structure, and capability trade-offs
