As the Manager of Test Engineering, you will lead the evolution of quality engineering for our world-class employee recognition platform. You will guide a team of test engineers in developing scalable test automation, improving quality practices, and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle. We are seeking a collaborative leader who is passionate about building high-performing teams, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring our products deliver reliable, seamless experiences for millions of users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Software Test Engineers, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and execute the quality engineering strategy, including test automation, performance testing, release readiness, and quality metrics.
  • Modernize testing frameworks, tools, and practices to improve scalability, maintainability, and engineering effectiveness.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Support leaders to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Establish testing standards, quality gates, and best practices that enable teams to deliver reliable software with confidence.
  • Oversee testing for complex initiatives, including risk assessment, test planning, automation strategy, release validation, and production readiness.
  • Champion a quality-first culture through automation, shift-left testing, process improvement, and shared ownership of quality.
  • Ensure the reliability, stability, and effectiveness of automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Define and track quality metrics to identify risks, drive continuous improvement, and measure outcomes.
  • Advance performance, scalability, reliability, and security testing practices to improve customer experience.
  • Drive cross-team alignment by reducing duplicated effort, improving testing efficiency, and increasing visibility into quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to establish consistent testing practices and support a follow-the-sun delivery model.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven success in developing and scaling quality engineering and testing automation strategies for complex software platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with modern test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, PyTest, or similar technologies.
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery workflows.
  • Experience leading production issue investigation and triage, using defect and incident data to improve quality and reduce recurrence.
  • Strong understanding of automation, performance testing, risk-based testing, and release validation practices.
  • Experience building engineering roadmaps, defining team objectives, and aligning quality investments with business priorities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach engineers, drive technical decisions, and lead organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading distributed or global quality engineering teams.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience testing event-driven systems using Kafka or similar technologies.
