Power Solutions Group, a business unit of Amphenol, is the market leader for Power Electrical connectors and Cable Assembly Solutions for the Telecom/Datacom (Data Centers, AI, Storage, Servers, Networks) and Energy Storage and eMobility Market. We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team located in Etters, PA. This position will report directly to the Engineering Director of Power Solutions Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will lead the U.S. based New Product Development team, leading the Innovation and Product Development of Power Interconnect Solutions, while working with the manufacturing sites for new Product/Process introductions, meeting the competitive quality and cost requirements.

  • Strategic Vision: Drive innovation and lead the development of innovative and customer-winning products; Collaborate with Power Solutions BU management functions defining the Technology and Product roadmap.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of industry and customer trends, standards, and competition landscape. Understand the emerging and disruptive technologies, best practices to guide the team in adopting innovative approaches and technologies.
  • Customer Focus: Keep close contact and establish solid partnerships with customers and our Product Line Management and Sales teams.
  • Project management: Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Collaborate closely with teams to ensure completion of engineering deliverables by defined design process, drive continuous improvement to ensure performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and manufacturability on time. Recommend and manage investments in equipment, systems, and other assets to optimize the utilization of resources.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a role model. Set clear objectives and promote Amphenol entrepreneurial culture by selecting, developing, and coaching individuals and building a high performing team. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Encourage professional growth and development through an open and empowering leadership style.
  • Cross-Collaboration: Effectively communicate project updates, technical insights, and recommendations to stakeholders. Work with manufacturing teams to develop and establish investment / product cost estimates. Work closely with NPI and manufacturing engineering to ensure transition of products to manufacturing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

This role requires dealing with a highly flexible and demanding environment for solving challenging, complex business and customer problems. Ideally, the candidate will have an outstanding record of accomplishment in the product development and engineering field and will have an eye for talent and understand the value of "human capital."

  • Bachelor of Science degree Mechanical or Electrical discipline or similar technical field
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience with connector design and development and working knowledge of the core manufacturing processes - stamping, plating, molding, assembly, preferably with power connectors or IT Datacom architectures and components.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in leading engineering team with responsibility for product development and execution.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to define project goals, allocate resources, manage budgets, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and address technical challenges, evaluate design trade-offs, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in using engineering analysis and simulation tools is often expected.

OTHER SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (PTC Creo, Windchill and ANSYS are desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical and Thermal simulations and thermodynamic principles
  • Knowledge of key industry specifications (For example - UL, EIA, IEC, Telcordia, OCP)
  • Rack Power Distribution/Equipment Architecture knowledge desired.
  • Strong Communication and Leadership in an international environment.
