Job description

Engineering Manager

Purpose:

Provide leadership in the Engineering Department.

Work Environment:

Office environment; occasional time spent in the production facilities. Occasional travel is required.

Primary Duties:

  • Expected to follow all safety rules and policies and work in a manner that protects themselves and other stakeholders from hazards and injuries.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of goals and objectives of the department consistent with the corporate goals and objectives, which include:
  • Providing high level leadership.
  • Project Management and process improvement initiatives for all Capital Projects.
  • Ensuring adherence to company policies and guidelines.
  • Production, including associated reporting.
  • Adherence to the Quality system.
  • Controlling costs.
  • Delivery of product/service in a timely manner in accordance with established business plans.
  • Providing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Building and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Coordination with other organizations and departments as needed to create a team environment.
  • Maintain and communicate status of proposed and approved capital projects and engineering projects.
  • Ensures that all daily, monthly and annual reports and forecasts are completed in a timely manner.
  • Direct development of departmental business plan
  • Develop methods to measure usage of electric power, natural gas, compressed air, stream and other resources required for production. Determine best methods to conserve these utility resources.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; minimum of 8 years of heavy manufacturing experience and/or training; a minimum of three years’ supervisory or management experience.
  • Previous machine design and project management experience required.
  • CAD experience required.

Skills Requirements:

  • Leadership and Supervisory skills.
  • General understanding of PCs and related software experience.
  • Sound communication, organizational and analytical skills with the ability to plan work.
  • Must be able to communicate in English for all business/job related transactions.
