Position Summary
As the Engineering Manager you will provide clear leadership direction, establish expectations, and hold the CNC Programming and Engineering teams accountable for project execution, reporting, and results.
You will improve process ownership within the teams by focusing on safety, quality, delivery, documentation control, CNC programming standards, and measurable accountability. You will partner with other Tosoh engineering groups (R&D and NPI) to ensure we have the tools and systems to successfully build new products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor the CNC Programming and Engineering teams on key concepts of process development, CNC programming support, lean production, and scientific glassblowing.
  • Work closely with management, production and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Lead cross functional projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess project feasibility.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, of new and existing equipment.
  • Direct, review, and approve process design and changes.
  • Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts.
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Own and maintain manufacturing engineering process documentation, ensuring procedures, work instructions, process standards, and related records are accurate, current, controlled, and aligned with production and customer requirements.
  • Provide clear leadership, direction, and accountability for manufacturing engineers by setting expectations, assigning priorities, monitoring progress, and following up on deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for CNC programming priorities, documentation, project support, and deliverables to ensure alignment with manufacturing needs.
  • Establish and maintain project documentation standards, including project charters, timelines, action registers, risk tracking, status updates, and closure documentation.
  • Develop and report project and process metrics to track progress, identify gaps, communicate performance, and drive accountability for results.
  • Manage team projects and efforts to achieve goals set by management.
  • Occasional int'l travel required (1-2x per year)

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar field.
  • 10+ years of experience in a related field, with demonstrated increase in responsibility.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles that are involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Experience with Lean production concepts, including initial rollout and adoption of 6S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen activity.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocations, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of project management, as it relates to equipment deployment and process improvement.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management practices, including documentation control, project reporting, milestone tracking, metric development, and accountability systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in contract manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with MRP fundamentals.
