Global Power Componentsis a privately held, financially sound,growingmanufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.

We are currently looking for a candidate who wants to make a difference and who wishes to be part of our dynamic organization. Working within a fast-paced team tasked with the design of tanks and enclosures. Close working relationships with others in the team will be needed to be able to provide quality and on time releases of orders to production.
Responsibilities: (what you will be doing)
  • Our Mechanical/Design Engineers perform a wide variety of layout and detail\design related duties in support of quotations, orders and manufacturing related projects
  • This includes navigating issues that may arise, developing corrective action and implementing solutions
  • Candidate should be self-directed, but able to workwithin a team environment. It is essential that one owns the tasks/projects assigned
  • Ensure that standard shop practices and capabilities meet the design requirements and are reflected in designs and drawings
  • Non Mechanical Design: Secondary tasks could fill up all or part of a business day. These tasks are not defined with limitations. They could range greatly in day to day activity
    • Examples would include making software troubleshooting calls, calling vendors, updating ECR's (Engineering Change Requests), contacting customers or addressing other duties as they arise
  • Work taskbalance is approximately 90% design and 10% special/other projects
  • Play a key role in manufacturing and productivity improvements
  • Work to solve manufacturing and assembly issues on the shop floor, both for short term and long term solutions
  • Work with manufacturing to launch new product development. Ie explore how we manufacture a new product and implement the best solution available within budget and timeline for given project
  • Conducts effective "pre-reviews" of jobs released to the floor and effective "post-reviews" of jobs after completion. Manages this process to assure continuous improvements takes place for cost reductions and quality improvements as jobs are run through the plant.
  • Confers with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly, and design staff concerning product design quality planning, and fixturing to ensure efficient production methods.

Requirements:(what it takes to be successful)
  • Musthave high level of understanding of SOLIDWORKS,(you will be required to complete a SOLIDWORKS test during the selection process)
  • Knowledge in an ERP system a positive, PDM preferred
  • Experience in sheet-metal & weldment design is desired
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes
  • Able to work in environment with changing priorities
  • Hands on individual who can work from concept through implementation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple parallel projects and schedules
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or related field desired
