Job Description

ProSidian Seeks a AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer - GSSC (Full-Time) to support an engagement for the US Dept. of Energy (DOE) Hanford.  Preferred candidates present with relevant Government, Public Sector and Infrastructure (Nuclear and Environmental) Sector experience (functional area experience also ideal) - SCA Code: N/A.  This position is located in the CONUS - Northwest Region. 

AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer - GSSC Candidates shall work to support requirements for RFQ FY22 011 Electrical Safety Engineer Support Services Swim Lanes and statement of work (SOW) while maintaining required qualifications with relevant Government, Public Sector and Infrastructure (Nuclear and Environmental) Sector experience (functional area experience also ideal).  ProSidian Team Members (# FTe's: 1) work as part of the Engagement Team Cadre to provide Electrical Safety Engineer Support for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site (Richland Operations Office and the Office of River Protection).  The  AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer supports The Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Site, Assistant Manager for Safety and Quality (AMSQ), Nuclear Safety Division (NSD) by performing oversight of the Hanford Site Electrical Safety program as a General Support Services Contractor (GSSC).

The Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Site, Assistant Manager for Safety and Quality (AMSQ), Nuclear Safety Division (NSD) requires support performing oversight of the Hanford Site Electrical Safety program. The AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer shall provide one full-time (1920 hours) General Support Services Contractor (GSSC) to support the following scope:

  • Assist with planning and performing assessments of policies, programs, procedures, and processes related to electrical safety
  • Document assessments, reviews, and field observations of work activities to collect data in support of assessment evaluations and conclusions in the DOE integrated Contractor Assurance System (iCAS) database
  • Provide briefs to DOE Management, Team Leads, and Safety Systems Oversight (SSO) engineers)
  • Assist with evaluation of effectiveness of contractor corrective actions
  • Attend various training, meetings, and discussions relevant to ongoing oversight activities
  • Support the SSO program (e.g., mentoring, training preparation, compiling metrics, procedure review/update, etc.)
  • Interface with DOE-ORP/RL subject matter experts
  • Perform administrative functions
  • Support NSD Central Engineering Team
  • Assist with the oversight of contractor activities to ensure proper implementation of contractual requirements, providing a safe work environment, and demonstrating compliance with overall DOE safety performance standards and principles
  • Assist with compiling Operational Awareness and Surveillance reports for work documented in the DOE iCAS database detailing oversight activities including document reviews, field observations, and personnel interviews

Qualifications

The AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer - GSSC shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineer shall ensure that personnel supporting this task possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study, preferably electrical engineering, or relevant work experience in the field of electrical safety working knowledge in the following:
  • DOE O 422.1 Conduct of Operations programs (preferred)
  • Construction safety and oversight.
  • DOE assessment process, techniques, and tools (preferred).
  • Electrical safety standards and codes (i.e., IEEE standards, ISA standards, NFPA-70 National Electrical Code, and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
  • Fundamental understanding of nuclear, mechanical, electrical, chemical, and physical science concepts and their application to facility operations, environmental cleanup, facility D&D, waste management, including associated safety management programs.
  • Experience in safety inspections, incident investigation, causal analysis, management review and appraisal techniques, and quality assurance Capable of reading, interpreting, and understanding the regulations associated with the DOE, Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, state and local, and related industry standards by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American National Standards Institute.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and/or other MS Office tools.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID, a granted exception to vaccination for COVID, or able to meet entry and testing requirements for entrance and work in federal buildings.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

REQUIRED TRAINING

The AMSQ Electrical Safety Engineers performing services under this call may need to complete the following training:

  • HGET.
  • WTP Site access.
  • Mask Fit.
  • Respiratory Training (Initial and Refresher).
  • 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher or 40 hour.
  • Radiological Worker II (Initial and Refresher).
  • Beryllium Worker (Initial and Refresher).
  • HPMC Physical.
  • Hammer Training Course 00313I - Hanford Site Lockout/Tagout for Authorized Workers.

TRAVEL:  Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements.  Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, is allowed, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations. 

LOCATION:  Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to The Hanford Eastern Washington (Tri-Cities - Kennewick | Pasco | Richland) Area.
