Job description

Job Purpose:
Develop application systems that adhere to the standard system development lifecycle methodology and concepts, encompassing design, programming, security, backup, and recovery, to deliver solutions of superior quality, performance, and value to our customers.
Functions:
  • Analyze, develop, and implement solutions for complex business and system opportunities.
  • Exhibit effective communication at all levels of internal and external IT customers.
  • Maintain existing and develop new programs to meet business requirements.
  • Leads projects or tasks as required. Develops and manages project plans.
  • Elicit, prepare, and approve requirements documents, specifications, and database definitions.
  • Study, analyze, and define the impact of the user's business needs on the system components and their interfaces to provide maximum benefits from each system.
  • Provide operational support of applications during regular hours and off-hours on-call rotation.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and assist junior personnel in all phases of the standard system development methodology, life cycle, design, programming, backup, and recovery concepts.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and tollgates.
  • Develop documentation regarding the end use of the application and the technical support of the application.
  • Conduct training sessions as required.
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain business process concepts and techniques, software applications, and tools.
  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent projects of varying priorities.
  • A positive attitude with a strong desire and capability to learn new software and systems.

Qualifications:
  • AS degree in computer science/Business or related field, or appropriate technical training and equivalent job experience.
  • A minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible system development experience in RPG/LE/Free and embedded SQL.
  • Career concentration on business application development, maintenance, and support.
  • Proficient in using structured systems development methods, techniques, and tools.
  • Specialized knowledge needed for the performance of the role: iSeries (AS/400), RPG III/IV/ILE/Free, CL, RDI or Visual Code, SQL, DDS, DDL, DB2, IBM I 7.4+
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Visio or other flowcharting tools.
  • Robot and MDCMS are pluses. Any modernization work is a plus.
  • Retail Experience is preferred but optional. JDA MMS experience is a plus.

Work Conditions
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines.
  • Sitting for extended periods.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
  • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
  • Some travel may be required.
