About the Job
Client is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Ground Solutions and Mission Support (GSMS) Software Integrated Product Team (IPT). This team develops, modernizes, and sustains mission-critical software systems supporting national security initiatives, including Next Generation Ground Systems and Ground Element Modernization programs.
In this role, you will collaborate with software engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop innovative software solutions for operational environments.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C++ in a Linux-based environment.
  • Implement new software capabilities based on system and algorithm requirements.
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and software validation activities.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and discrepancy reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support software deployment and sustainment activities across operational environments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development with C++.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming principles and software design.
  • Experience developing applications in a Linux environment, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex software issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a STEM-related field.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development environments.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and test automation practices.
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python, Perl, or C.
  • Strong understanding of mathematical algorithms and software implementation.
  • Experience with version control systems, including Git.
  • Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
