About the role

We are looking for a talented Geospatial Software Engineer (Backend) to support the deployment of Chloris' innovative technology by enterprises active in the voluntary carbon markets.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a motivated software engineer with an eye for details and looking to join a team of experienced and innovative individuals
  • Will work closely with the data science team to bring their code to production
  • Is passionate about building and testing software products
  • Is excited about the opportunity to join a mission-oriented and high-potential start-up, anchored in pioneering science and focused on delivering best-in-class data and technology for nature-based solutions

The Geospatial Software Engineer (Backend) will report to the Engineer Manager and will work closely with the Data Science team.


Responsibilities

Design, test, and build the backend software which delivers Chloris Geospatial's unique insights. Work closely with data scientists to optimize and integrate their code in order to bring it to production.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 4+ years of experience with Python or similar language
  • Understanding of Object Oriented and Functional Programming paradigms
  • Independent and self-motivated with excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills


Ideal candidates will have

  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB
  • Experience with Open Source Geospatial tools such as GDAL, Geopandas, Rasterio, Xarray, etc


Location + Time Commitment

This is a full-time position. Location is flexible with a preference for locations allowing hybrid work in Boston, MA. Chloris is a hybrid-first company with a transatlantic team based throughout Western Europe and the United States, concentrated near our Boston headquarters. We are committed to providing a hybrid work environment that allows for in-person and on-site collaboration at quarterly all-hands retreats, in addition to allowing for the benefits that come from flexible, work-from-anywhere arrangements.
