Job description

SUMMARY: The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and analysis of engineering projects. The Engineering department oversees developing test equipment and technical data to create new capabilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design specialized tools, custom test stands, and precision fixtures, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Analyze engineering specifications, technical drawings, and recommend design modifications that improve functionality, manufacturability, or compliance.
  • Apply core engineering methodologies to investigate material properties, sourcing options, and equipment pricing.
  • Identify and thoroughly research alternative tools or components that can meet the specifications outlined in the Component Maintenance Manual (CMM)
  • Stay updated on evolving product technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, ensuring engineering processes and deliverables reflect current best practices.
  • Review and validate Maintenance Instructions, Engineering Orders, and Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM) updates.
  • Utilize precise measurement techniques to reverse engineer special tools and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design and execute complex projects aimed at developing new capabilities and advancing technological innovations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics or a related field,
    • or an additional 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant/technical work experience in aircraft electrical systems in MRO or Part 145 environment.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, modification, and repair of aircraft electrical/avionics systems
  • Ability to develop or review Engineering Orders (EOs) and technical instructions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to solve complex technical problems while effectively working both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Aviation Systems, or engineering management.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience in the aviation industry.

OTHER:

  • Approximately 15% of travel is required, depending on business/ project needs
