About This Role
We believe people should love what they do - in this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for a team of both Software and Systems Engineering, including key disciplines such as:
    • Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, System Safety, Cybersecurity, Reliability, and other technical areas essential to program success.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for both disciplines, including:
    • Managing full-time employees, co-ops, interns, and contractors.
    • Forecasting future resource needs and addressing potential workforce gaps.
  • Drive development and engagement of Software and Systems Engineers by:
    • Managing team performance through setting objectives, conducting reviews, and providing feedback.
    • Mentoring and coaching team members in both domains to foster technical growth and career progression.
  • Oversee and enforce best practices for Software Engineering activities, including:
    • Software architecture, development, and requirements engineering.
    • Adoption and implementation of Agile methodologies and tools.
    • Driving process improvements and monitoring quality compliance for software deliverables.
  • Oversee Systems Engineering activities, ensuring execution excellence in areas such as:
    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with an emphasis on SysML modeling and tools.
    • Requirements development, decomposition, and analysis to ensure alignment with customer needs.
    • System architecture definition and integration with program requirements across all technical domains.
    • Verification and Validation (V&V) planning to ensure alignment with customer deliverables.
  • Oversee additional domain-specific responsibilities, including:
    • Compliance with System Safety, Cybersecurity, and Systems Reliability standards.
    • Reviewing and ensuring high-quality delivery of system-level and software-level artifacts to customers.
  • Track team and program performance by:
    • Monitoring and analyzing quality metrics for both Software and Systems teams.
    • Soliciting and addressing feedback from internal management and external customers.
    • Providing regular progress updates for internal leadership and customers, including technical progress and resource management updates.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience, OR Master's degree (M.S.) in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related Engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of experience.

Technical Expertise:
o Strong knowledge of both Software and Systems Engineering methodologies, processes, tools, and best practices.
o Expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including SysML modeling frameworks.
o Experience with Agile Software Development methods, tools, and practices.
o Experience with System Architecture, requirements development, and lifecycle management processes
Strong leadership abilities for guiding cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both internal team and customer engagement.
Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and problem-solving across multiple engineering domains.
Experience in defense, military, or similar industries is highly desirable and preferred
An existing U.S. Security Clearance is preferred. Ability to obtain one is required.
