Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer / Pavement Engineer
Work Location: Anchorage, AK
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Oversee construction management of on-going civil construction project for airfield runway improvements / pavement resurfacing
  • Review contractor's Quality Assurance Plan
  • Oversee and perform three-phase inspections and surveillance of construction work to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract and specifications
  • Review of design, comment logging and back-checking for Design-Build projects
  • Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log
  • Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor's requests for payment
  • Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule
  • Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes
  • Review and process Requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the course of construction
  • Support construction contract modifications
  • Perform critical path schedule review

Education and Experience:
  • 7+ years of engineering and construction management experience
  • Experience with construction administration and capability of handling large civil works projects
  • Bachelor of Science, required
  • Knowledge /experience in airfield runway improvements and/or pavement resurfacing
  • US Army Corp of Engineering or other federal project experience, preferred
  • Experience with Resident Management System (RMS 3.0), preferred
  • Experience reading construction plans and specifications
  • Good written communication and organizational skills

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Should enjoy working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
