Job description

Afognak is committed to providing professional development opportunities to its Shareholders. The goal of the Apprentice program is to provide intensive on-the-job training to one highly motivated Shareholder that is interested in working in a pre-mid-level position in one of the areas that Afognak/Alutiiq does business. It is anticipated that through concentrated training and mentoring, the Apprentice will be qualified to enter their chosen fields after one year of on-the-job training.

The apprentice is expected to work full-time (40 hours a week). The length of employment will be determined on a case-by-case basis to accommodate the Apprentice's training needs but will not exceed a one-year period. Apprentices can work in one of the following departments: Accounting, Information Technology, Operations & Maintenance, Human Resources, Lands, Security, or Legal.

Work locations vary depending on available work and the successful applicants areas of interests. Applicants must submit an Apprentice application form, Afognak online employment application, and resume. Payrate: $20.00 to $24.00 HourlyAfognak Native Corporation (ANC) Shareholders who are Native, and ANC Shareholders who are descendants of a Native

The two categories of eligible applicants set out in 1 above each include An adoptee of a Native or a descendant of a Native whose adoption occurred prior to majority and is recognized at law or in equity An adoptee whose adoption occurred after the age of majority, but only if that adoptee is both a Native and a voting Shareholder. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED and be at least 18 years of age. Must be a self-starter that is interested in learning the skills to succeed in a chosen field of work.

Must work well in a team environment and have excellent communication skills.
