Job Description:

Project:
Parsons provides O&M and preventative maintenance services on the US Capitol Power Plant's (CPP's) Utility Distribution System (UDS) in Washington, DC. This work includes inspection, maintenance, and repair services associated with steam and chilled water utilities serving 19 Capitol Hill facilities. Work hours are typically Monday-Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Opportunity:
The Maintenance Trades Helper assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as: keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning & maintain egress entry points, providing radio communications with crew members, safely providing support for traffic lane closures, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman. This will include working in a hot, cold, wet, dry, damp and or dirty environment. Much of the work will be done in a confined space tunnel. Ideal for applicants looking to grow their expertise in mechanical inspection, maintenance procedures, and mechanical repairs.
They will be responsible for keeping an inventory of materials on the service truck, as well as recording truck service use and maintenance. On many occasions, the candidate will be required to provide and document a safety watch function.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to safely operate pickup trucks in city traffic, to complete pickup and delivery of equipment and other assigned duties. Must have valid Driver's License and a clean driving record. Motor vehicle print out may be required as proof.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing 50 pounds and climb ladders regularly.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a good job attendance record and on-time dependability.
  • There will be a requirement to pass the following training and exams; Confined Space, Heat Stress, Asbestos Awareness, Lock Out/ Tag Out, Respiratory Protection and Safety (all written). Satisfactory completion of a physical fitness test is required.
  • American citizenship or green card required. Candidates will be required to pass a background check and obtain client's security clearance.
