We are currently looking to hire a full-timeย Welder Helper

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Employees are expected to:

  • Use the following tools and equipment: Tape measure, square, straight edge, level, rasp, chalk line, sledgehammer, burning torch, welding equipment, chipping hammer, fitting gear, come-a-longs, jacks, chain falls, material handling equipment, inspection equipment, hoists, hammers, pry bar, fit-up bar, wrenches, key plates, bull pins, wire rope slings, shackles, hand wire brush and cribbing blocks. Powered hand tools, including grinders, chipping and peening guns, wire brushes, saws, and impact wrenches.
  • Set up and use oxy-fuel or plasma burning equipment to cut or trim plate and structural steel.
  • Use oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals or to gouge.
  • Operate electric and pneumatic power tools such as grinders, wire brushes, and chipping guns. Perform basic and preventative maintenance functions on power equipment.
  • Use grinder and other hand or power tools required to grind, bevel, or fit metals together, and remove slag.
  • Use hand tools such as shovels, brooms, scrapers, hand brushes, files, etc.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.
  • Unload fabricated steel products and tools from trucks.
  • Hook-on or move material around the field site by hand or with the assistance of a forklift or crane.
  • Align, fit and tack steel shapes together utilizing temporary erection gear, fit-up (pry)bars, and sledgehammers.
  • Erect and dismantle temporary scaffolding used in steel plate construction.
  • Inspect, set up, use, break down and rig equipment such as aerial work platforms (spider buggies), elevated work platforms, and staging.
  • Have knowledge of Safety Equipment: Hardhat, safety glasses with side shields, full body harness with double lanyard, earplugs, respiratory protection, gloves.
  • Be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Work at heights (up to approx. 100ft) accessed via ladders to scaffold platforms.
  • Perform duties of Safety/Firewatch as needed.

  • Have valid driverโ€™s license and reliable, insured transportation.
  • Have good communication skills.

  • Be willing to travel anywhere at any time.
  • Have good attendance and show up to work on time every day.
  • Be willing to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Be willing to work in harsh weather conditions.
  • Have strong basic math and measuring skills.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Be willing to authorize background and motor vehicle driving record checks.
  • Be willing to submit to pre-hire, random, and post-incident drug, and alcohol testing.
  • Have an eye for quality and strong attention to detail.
