Description
***Applicants seeking part-time seasonal work with the University of Hawai'i at Manoa may apply for Exempt Hourly Non-Civil Service positions at the Athletics Department. Due to the temporary nature of these appointments, Exempt Hourly Non-Civil employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave/night differential).

Full Time/Part Time:Part Time
Work Schedule: Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedule will be vary depending on events scheduled at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa athletic venues.
Temporary/Permanent: Temporary
Other Conditions: Maximum hours allowed per week is 19.75, continuation dependent upon satisfactory performance, availability of funds and program needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Stan Sheriff Center (SSC) Manager or designee and under the supervision of the Cleaner I Supervisor the Cleaner I position will be responsible for the custodial maintenance duties involved in all aspects of cleaning the Stan Sheriff Center (SSC) and/or other athletic facilities on lower campus on a post event basis. The Cleaner I employee will perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with city, county, state and federal laws and all contractual agreements.
Cleaner Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Pick up trash in the assigned facility. Empty all trash cans (pulling and lifting up to 25 pounds) and replace trash can liners inside and outside the facility. Dispose all trash into trash compactor or dumpster.
  2. Mop spills and all sticky surfaces in assigned facility. Mop all rows in assigned facility when needed.
  3. Sweep or vacuum areas as assigned.
  4. Use auto scrubber to clean hard floor surfaces as assigned.
  5. Sweep or vacuum mats at entrances.
  6. Sweep or vacuum locker room changing areas.
  7. Sweep stairways of all rubbish and dust and wipe down stairway railings.
  8. Wipe down railings.
  9. Clean glass door windows when necessary.

Restroom Clean Up Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Clean and mop all areas used during the event including toilets, sinks, water fountains, showers, drying areas including home locker room, visitor locker room, lower level employee locker room, hospitality room, officials locker room and all public restrooms. Mop up all standing water in all areas.
  2. Refresh all paper products and soap in restrooms as needed.
  3. Wipe down railings.

Other Related Duties as Assigned:
  1. Works safely at all times and promptly informs management about unsafe conditions existing in the work area.
  2. Clean up all tools and equipment associated with the clean up of the facility.
  3. Maintains cleaning equipment in good working condition, and notifies the account manager or supervisor if repair or replacement is necessary.
  4. Wears personal protective equipment appropriate for the task being performed.
  5. Adheres to assigned facility security procedures.
  6. Know, recognize, and comply with laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees, students, or others, have occurred or will occur.
  7. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Some experience in cleaning preferred.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
  3. Ability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
  4. Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Ability to pay attention to detail, have pride in delivering excellent service and high levels of energy and endurance.
  7. Physically able to bend, stoop/crouch, squat, twist, pull and lift up to 25 pounds.
  8. Physically able to climb stairs.
  9. Ability to walk and/or moving on hard surfaces for long periods of time.
  10. Ability to work late nights to early mornings including weekend and holidays.
