Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the engineering department. This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing project delivery, ensuring technical excellence and regulatory compliance, driving quality assurance initiatives, and supporting business development and organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the delivery of civil engineering projects across multiple service lines.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and quality control procedures.

  • Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, and resource allocation.

  • Coordinate with clients, project stakeholders, field teams, consultants, and internal departments.

  • Develop and implement engineering procedures, technical standards, and QA/QC processes.

  • Oversee engineering software platforms, technology strategy, and related operational systems.

  • Support proposal development, feasibility studies, client presentations, and business development initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Survey, Environmental, and Construction Management teams to ensure integrated project delivery.

  • Stay current with engineering technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes to improve operational efficiency.

  • Participate in strategic planning, operational decision-making, and departmental leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (Utah preferred) or equivalent professional engineering credentials.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional civil engineering experience.

  • At least 5 years of leadership, supervisory, or project management experience.

  • Extensive experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) projects and standards.
