DESCRIPTION
A Controls Engineer is responsible for working within a project team to provide controls engineering hardware and software knowledge amp; direction to the organization through review, design, and communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in design reviews at all levels; proposal, standards, project, etc.
  • Analyze customer requirements and participate in proposal development activities
  • Manage technical solutions to minimize costs while maintaining reliability
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to satisfy project requirements
  • Work with the broader organization to drive continuous improvement in job process and cost
  • Provide industry specific application knowledge and direction
  • Develop project requirements and design specifications
  • Maintain customer specifications and logging of deviations
  • Provide support for product development and support
  • Perform detailed system design, implementation and test
  • Participate in startup, commissioning and customer acceptance at customer facility
  • Diagnose problems with pneumatic and mechanical systems interfacing with electrical amp; electronic systems
  • Develop tools and integration strategies to increase effectiveness and lower costs
  • Investigate and suggest architecture and technology enhancements
  • Project tasks completed on schedule and under budget
  • Project tasks completed to specifications and checked for accuracy
  • Follow Invio processes and controls work level instructions
  • Controlled code incident management with minimal impact to customer’s production
  • Product cost containment through improved engineered solutions
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Able to travel within the US or internationally

Other skills and abilities:
  • Experience in automated controls systems.
  • Experience with Robotic Controls and programming platforms.
  • Experience with Industrial Vision Systems.
  • PLC/HMI programming experience with an emphasis on Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and Siemens.
  • Competence in industrial machinery controls design.
  • Efficient using 2D AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical or Eplan to generate control system packages.
  • Experience and understanding of relevant codes such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL508a, CE, etc.
  • Functional troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with different fieldbus architectures such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning.
EDUCATION

• Associate’s Degree and 5 years of robotics, controls, or engineering experience; OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 3 years of robotics, controls, or engineering experience.
