Senior Electrical Controls Engineers

Job Description

Lead the design, model, simulation, and implementation of advanced power control algorithms for DC/DC converters and DC/AC inverters.

Lead the development, analysis, and documentation of control system architecture.

Manage projects to ensure adherence to schedule and company processes. May manage project team members.

Lead innovation of power converter controls to meet the needs of the business.

Use modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow to develop and implement control algorithms.

Collaborate with Hardware and Firmware Engineers to optimize and implement next-generation control algorithms.

Peer review software and controls designs/source code.

Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and HIL test equipment to validate control algorithms.

Schedule, develop agendas for, facilitate, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 2 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation; OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, related engineering field, or foreign degree equivalent, and 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, or alternate related acceptable occupation.

Work or academic experience must have included:

1. Model-based control development utilizing design tools (MATLAB or Simulink).

2. Closed loop control theory, vector control, and pulse width modulation techniques.

3. Control loop tuning and stability analysis.

4. Analyzing power electronics schematics and component data sheets.

5. Developing fault detection and mitigation algorithms for single phase and/or three phase power systems.

6. Integrating model-based generated code with software/firmware modules.

7. Developing plant models to simulate physical systems.

10% of domestic and international travel required.
