What are Engen?

Engen is a term most commonly associated with Engen Petroleum, a South African oil company involved in the refining, marketing, and distribution of petroleum products. The company operates service stations, provides lubricants, and supplies fuels to both retail and commercial customers. Engen also has a significant presence in several African countries outside South Africa. Careers at Engen can range from engineering and operations to marketing, finance, and customer service roles. Employees at Engen are typically engaged in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of energy solutions.

What are some typical challenges faced by engineers when working on cross-functional teams?

Engineers often collaborate with professionals from different disciplines, such as product managers, designers, and marketers. A common challenge is bridging communication gaps due to varying technical backgrounds and priorities. Successful engineers learn to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical team members and actively seek input from others to ensure project goals are aligned. Developing strong interpersonal and project management skills can help engineers navigate these challenges and contribute effectively to cross-functional projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Engineer, you need a strong foundation in mathematics, problem-solving, and domain-specific technical knowledge, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree and, in some cases, professional licensure. Familiarity with industry-standard software (such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or SolidWorks), project management tools, and relevant certifications like Professional Engineer (PE) can be crucial. Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability are standout soft skills in this field. Mastery of these skills and tools ensures engineers can design, implement, and improve systems or products efficiently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Grapevine is New Engen's scalable solution that helps brands license high-performing third-party creator content quickly and easily. We use our network of 800+ creators to deliver ready-to-run content to leading DTC brands for their social ad campaigns.
We're a collaborative group of strategists, content creators, copywriters, editors, designers, account managers, and more who are all in on helping brands, and each other, thrive. We work hard, stay humble, and build with purpose.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own Brand Relationships and Program Execution
Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of DTC brands, building strong relationships and guiding them through onboarding, campaign execution, and ongoing growth.
