Position Overview
This role works to develop and support BESS standard product solutions. The position reports to the manager of BESS Standard Solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop System-level BESS "power block" architectures by analyzing and selecting optimal combinations of batteries, PCS, MV transformers, protection, and auxiliary systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Project Engineering, Software, Supply Chain, Sales Engineering) to ensure designs are feasible, constructable, cost-effective and aligned with product roadmap strategy.
  • Produce and maintain engineering documentation such as specifications, drawings, configuration guides, and reference designs to support sales and project execution teams.
  • Provide technical support to Sales Engineering and Project Engineering on standard product configurations, system behavior, product information, and integration constraints
  • Lead or contribute to design reviews, delivering clear rationale, tradeoff analysis, risk assessments, and recommendations for system-level decisions.
  • Evaluate and qualify vendors, products, and emerging technologies for integration into BESS solutions, including performance, reliability, and compliance considerations
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment on product capabilities, roadmap, and integration requirements
  • Review supplier provided documentation and customer-facing materials, offering structured feedback to improve clarity, accuracy, and usability
  • Contribute to the development of continuous improvement of standard engineering processes, tools, and design methodologies

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in system level engineering involving hardware, software, controls, and software integration
  • Demonstrate experience with BESS technologies, including batteries, BMS, PCS, Protection Systems, and Power Systems.
  • Proficiency with control architectures, communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, DNP3), and system integration
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated system solutions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors
