Job description

Scrum Master, Energy Management Systems

ON.energy is building the power infrastructure that makes the AI era possible. As AI demand surges past what the grid and traditional data centers can support, ON.energy provides a new class of power technology proven at gigawatt scale and trusted by the world's leading cloud and AI companies. Our systems are already deployed across 2.5 GW of hyper-scale campuses, validated by top U.S. national labs, and certified for grid-safe operation by major utilities. With real products in the field, we're scaling faster than the grid can, transforming power from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage for the companies building the future.

Role Overview

ON.energy is seeking a Scrum Master for the Energy Management System (EMS) team. This role drives agile execution within the EMS team, owns the flow of work raised by external teams into the EMS team's internal backlog, safeguards the integrity of agile practices across the team's management group, and partners with managers to keep priorities aligned with shifting business needs. The ideal candidate is equal parts facilitator, process steward, and cross-functional coordinator who can operate effectively without direct authority over the people they coach.

Key Responsibilities

External and Internal Ticket Ownership

  • Serve as the single point of accountability for all issue tickets raised by teams outside the EMS team โ€” including other internal teams, field operations, partners, and customers.
  • Triage, categorize, and ensure every external ticket is accurately mapped to a corresponding internal work item, maintaining clear and auditable traceability between the two.
  • Maintain data integrity within Azure DevOps, the team's ticketing system, ensuring no external request is lost, duplicated, or left unlinked.
  • Track external tickets through to resolution and communicate status back to the originating team.

Agile Process Stewardship

  • Ensure all EMS team managers and leads consistently and correctly apply agile and Scrum practices.
  • Coach managers on agile principles, ceremonies, and artifacts; identify deviations from the established methodology and work with leaders to correct them.
  • Facilitate core Scrum events (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives) so they deliver value rather than overhead.
  • Define, monitor, and report on agile health metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and backlog hygiene to surface process gaps early.

Cross-Functional Prioritization

  • Partner closely with other managers in the team to continuously evaluate and reprioritize the backlog as conditions change.
  • Facilitate transparent trade-off discussions when priorities conflict, balancing urgency, team capacity, and business value.
  • Translate shifting priorities into clear, actionable adjustments in the EMS team's sprints and backlog.
  • Act as a neutral coordinator across managers to keep the team aligned and focused on the highest-value work.

General Scrum Master Duties

  • Remove impediments and shield the team from disruption so members can focus on delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Champion transparency through clear, up-to-date dashboards and reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, or in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience managing issue and ticket workflows in Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Strong working knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and broader agile frameworks.
  • Strong technical understanding of the EMS team's systems and software โ€” enough to triage issues, scope and prioritize work, and communicate credibly with engineers. The role does not require hands-on software development.
  • Proven ability to coach and influence managers and peers without direct authority.
  • Excellent organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM) or equivalent agile certification.
  • Experience in a technical or engineering environment spanning software, hardware, and industrial systems.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple teams or disciplines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) for tracking delivery metrics.
  • Exposure to energy management systems, battery energy storage, or industrial control environments (e.g., SCADA, PLCs) is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish, is a strong plus.
For US-based roles - What you'll get:
  • Competitive salary + annual performance-based bonus eligibility
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
For Mexico-based roles - What you'll get:
  • Competitive salary + annual performance bonus eligibility
  • Christmas Bonus (Aguinaldo): 30 days
  • Major medical expenses and life insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays (per local policy)
For all roles:
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
  • Opportunity to grow with a mission-driven team shaping the future of clean energy
  • Equal Opportunity: ON.energy is committed to equal employment opportunity and to maintaining a work environment free of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation.
  • Accommodations: If you need an accommodation during the application process, email recruitment@onenergystorage.com
  • Benefits vary by role and location and are subject to change.
