Endpoint Management information

What is endpoint management?

Endpoint management refers to the processes and tools used to monitor, manage, and secure devices such as laptops, desktops, smartphones, and tablets connected to a corporate network. The goal is to ensure that all endpoints comply with organizational policies, receive necessary updates, and are protected against security threats. Effective endpoint management helps IT teams maintain device health, automate software deployments, and respond quickly to vulnerabilities, improving both security and productivity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an endpoint management specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Endpoint Management Specialist, you need expertise in IT administration, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and strong troubleshooting skills, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Intune, JAMF, and relevant certifications such as CompTIA or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential for collaborating with teams and resolving user issues. These skills ensure secure, efficient device management and support organizational productivity in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in endpoint management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Endpoint Management often encounter challenges such as managing diverse device types, ensuring consistent security updates, and supporting remote or hybrid users. Staying current with evolving operating systems and software versions, as well as responding to security threats, are also ongoing concerns. To address these challenges, it's important to implement standardized configuration policies, utilize centralized management tools like Microsoft Intune or VMware Workspace ONE, and maintain clear communication with end-users and IT teams. Regular training and proactive monitoring can help mitigate risks and improve overall endpoint security and performance.

What is the difference between Endpoint Management vs Network Administrator?

AspectEndpoint ManagementNetwork Administrator
Primary FocusManaging and securing end-user devices like laptops, smartphones, and tabletsMaintaining and troubleshooting network infrastructure such as routers, switches, and servers
Required SkillsDevice management, security protocols, endpoint security toolsNetwork protocols, routing, switching, network security
Work EnvironmentIT support teams, device management platforms, enterprise environmentsNetwork operations centers, enterprise networks, data centers
CertificationsCompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop AdministratorCisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+

While both roles involve IT security and infrastructure, Endpoint Management focuses on securing and managing end-user devices, whereas Network Administrators oversee the broader network infrastructure. Understanding these differences helps organizations assign the right roles for their IT needs.

What does an endpoint management do?

An endpoint management professional oversees the deployment, security, and maintenance of devices such as computers, mobile phones, and tablets within an organization. They use tools like endpoint security software and remote management platforms to ensure devices are protected and functioning properly, often working closely with IT teams to enforce policies and troubleshoot issues.

Job description

Benefits
  • Flexible schedule
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Training & development
  • Wellness resources

DigiOffice is looking for a sharp, self-directed Intune Endpoint & Mobility Engineer who thrives in complex enterprise environments and doesn't need hand-holding to get the job done. This is a hands-on, on-site engineering role supporting a national logistics and transportation operation โ€” where device uptime isn't just an IT metric, it's a business-critical requirement.

If you've managed both Microsoft Intune and VMware Workspace ONE in production, can independently troubleshoot across platforms, and are ready to make an immediate impact, we want to hear from you.

This is a 100% on-site role in Johns Creek, GA. Remote or hybrid candidates will not be considered. Key Responsibilities
  • Full administration and troubleshooting of Microsoft Intune and VMware Workspace ONE / AirWatch across Windows, Android, and iOS/iPadOS device fleets.
  • Windows Autopilot provisioning and Windows 10/11 endpoint lifecycle management at enterprise scale.
  • Device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, and application deployment across all managed platforms.
  • Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD device administration, conditional access policy execution, and Zero Trust enforcement.
  • PowerShell scripting for device remediation, compliance automation, and lifecycle reporting.
  • Tier 3 escalation and independent resolution of complex cross-platform endpoint and mobility incidents.
  • Support for ruggedized field devices deployed across logistics, terminal, and fleet operations environments.
  • Participation in change, incident, and problem management activities via ServiceNow.
  • Technical documentation including runbooks, device inventory, and policy registers.
Professional Requirements
  • 3โ€“5+ years of hands-on enterprise endpoint and mobile device management experience.
  • Strong, production-level Microsoft Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager expertise.
  • Hands-on VMware Workspace ONE UEM / AirWatch experience โ€” this is a requirement, not a nice-to-have.
  • Solid Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD administration and conditional access experience.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell for troubleshooting and automation.
  • Android Enterprise and iOS/iPadOS device management experience.
  • Ability to operate independently and execute without step-by-step direction.
  • This is a 100% on-site role in Johns Creek, GA. Remote or hybrid candidates will not be considered.
Preferred Requirements
  • Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102).
  • VMware Workspace ONE Certified Professional.
  • ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM experience.
  • Experience with ruggedized devices (Zebra, Honeywell, Toughbook).
  • Transportation, logistics, or fleet environment background.
  • CompTIA Security+ / Network+ or ITIL Foundation.
