JOB SUMMARY:

Working on-site at the Franklin, TN headquarters, the Director of Information Technology will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of IT infrastructure and operations at U.S. Multimodal Group. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for directing a team of five IT professionals while owning the reliability, security, scalability, and continuous improvement of the organization's technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong technical background, a collaborative mindset, and a proven track record of building high-performing IT teams aligned to business goals.


This job is on-site full-time in Franklin, TN. There is no relocation assistance for this opportunity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals focused on infrastructure and operations, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, and support team members' professional growth and career development.
  • Identify staffing needs, participate in recruiting and onboarding of IT personnel, and build team capacity to meet evolving business demands.
  • Oversee the design, deployment, and ongoing management of network, server, cloud, and end-user computing infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Direct day-to-day IT operations including incident response, change management, system monitoring, backup and disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, and procedures related to infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data governance.
  • Partner with business units to understand technology requirements and translate them into actionable infrastructure strategies and solutions.
  • Develop and execute a multi-year IT infrastructure value driven roadmap that supports USMMG's growth objectives and operational needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, vendors, and solutions that improve efficiency, reduce cost, and reduce risk across the organization.
  • Own IT budgeting, forecasting, and vendor management for infrastructure-related spend, ensuring cost-effective and value-driven decisions.
  • Communicate infrastructure strategy, project status, risks, and issues clearly to senior leadership, escalating critical matters as appropriate.
  • Oversee cybersecurity posture including endpoint protection, network security, identity and access management, and security awareness.
  • Ensure IT systems and practices comply with applicable regulatory requirements and company information security policies.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.


Security & Compliance

  • Oversee cybersecurity posture including endpoint protection, network security, identity and access management, and security awareness.
  • Ensure IT systems and practices comply with applicable regulatory requirements and company information security policies.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in information technology, with a strong foundation in infrastructure and operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a people management role, with demonstrated success leading and developing technical teams.
  • Proven ability to align IT infrastructure strategy with business goals in a fast-paced, operationally intensive environment.
  • Deep technical knowledge across networking, server infrastructure, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), virtualization, and end-user computing.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, IT risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders in both written and oral form.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendor relationships, and multiple priorities concurrently.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain industry (Intermodal, Drayage, Brokerage, or Warehousing a plus).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 environments, Azure Active Directory, and enterprise endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience with ERP or TMS platforms in an infrastructure/operations support capacity.
