Job description

We are seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Architect to lead the design, implementation, optimization, and escalation support of enterprise virtual desktop and application delivery platforms. The role will focus on modernizing end-user computing services through Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Intune, application packaging, and Citrix replacement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments across development, test, pre-production, production, high-availability, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Develop enterprise AVD architecture, solution designs, deployment standards, reference architectures, and operational documentation.
  • Design scalable, secure, highly available, and resilient virtual desktop and published application environments.
  • Lead production readiness reviews, disaster recovery planning, and DR testing activities.
  • Design and optimize AVD host pools, scaling plans, session hosts, FSLogix profiles, images, and application delivery.
  • Develop standardized AVD infrastructure patterns and reference architectures for enterprise deployments.
  • Support Windows 365 solutions and Citrix modernization/replacement initiatives.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft Intune policies, endpoint configurations, and application packaging.
  • Support critical business applications and ensure compatibility with virtual desktop environments.
  • Monitor and optimize AVD performance, capacity, availability, and user experience.
  • Troubleshoot complex AVD infrastructure, performance, authentication, connectivity, profile, and user experience issues.
  • Provide advanced technical escalation support and drive root-cause analysis for production issues.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, identity, networking, application, and end-user computing teams.
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) architecture and enterprise implementations.
  • Experience designing AVD host pools, session hosts, scaling plans, application groups, workspaces, and FSLogix.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure networking, identity, authentication, security, and high availability.
  • Experience with Windows 365 Cloud PC and modern end-user computing solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune for policy management, endpoint configuration, and application deployment.
  • Strong experience with application packaging and application delivery in virtual desktop environments.
  • Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, particularly migration or replacement initiatives.
  • Experience with AVD performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity, production readiness, and DR testing.
  • Experience creating enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, deployment patterns, and operational documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, and stakeholder communication skills.
