JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the secure operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity, compliance, and CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) requirements. This role ensures systems are reliable, monitored, hardened, and compliant with NIST SP 800-171 and related frameworks, while supporting business operations and protecting Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

The ideal candidate is security-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in regulated environments where documentation, evidence, and repeatable processes are critical.

The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of IT systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Provide support, maintenance, and administration for the network and end users. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and securing physical and virtual servers, networks, and storage systems used in aerospace and spacecraft mission planning, and control. You will work closely with engineering software’s to ensure that computing environments meet performance, safety, and security requirements. Experience managing complex systems in high-reliability environments, ensuring maximum uptime, data integrity, and compliance with aerospace industry standards

This position will play a crucial role in the production process and contribute to the company’s overall performance in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Attitude (QCDSA).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Systems Administration

  • Administer, maintain, and monitor Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and associated services.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware) and on-prem/cloud hybrid infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of servers, storage, and core services.
  • Perform regular system updates, patching, and lifecycle management.

Security & CMMC Compliance

  • Maintain, and enforce security controls aligned with CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 requirements.
  • Support the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) across systems, networks, and storage.
  • Configure and maintain endpoint protection, disk encryption, secure authentication, and access controls.
  • Assist with security hardening, baseline configurations, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Participate in security risk assessments, POA&M tracking, and continuous improvement efforts.

Identity & Access Management

  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and least privilege access.
  • Enforce MFA, password policies, and secure authentication standards.
  • Monitor and review access logs and account activity.

Monitoring, Logging & Incident Support

  • Maintain system monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms.
  • Review logs for security events, anomalies, and policy violations.
  • Assist with incident response, containment, investigation, and documentation.
  • Support forensic evidence collection and audit requests when required.

Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity

  • Manage backup systems and ensure secure, encrypted, and tested backups.
  • Perform and document backup restoration testing.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

Documentation & Evidence

  • Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and configuration standards.
  • Maintain audit-ready evidence for CMMC assessments, internal audits, and customer requirements.
  • Assist with policy and procedure development related to IT and security operations.

End-User & Operational Support

  • Provide tier 1/2/3 support for IT issues and escalations.
  • Support secure workstation configurations and compliance enforcement.
  • Collaborate with management, security, and compliance stakeholders.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in, Network+, A+, MCSE desired.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar IT role.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and secure system administration.
  • Working knowledge of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or similar regulatory / compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with system monitoring, patch management, and endpoint security tools.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and maintain compliance evidence.
  • Knowledgeable in Dell Server and Desktop Hardware.
  • Knowledgeable in TCP/IP MPLS, DHCP, WINS, DNS, VLAN, VPN, LAN & WAN etc.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory Services and Server Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge in network hardware i.e. Switches & Access Points.
  • DELL/EMC Hardware & Software.
  • DELL Compellent hardware and Software.
  • VMware Virtualized Environments.
  • Office 365 Administration.
  • Basic SQL administrative experience.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Logical thinker, ability to logically solve problems, proactive in resolving problems and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, project, and time management skills, with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently without constant supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or preparing for CMMC Level 2 assessments.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, vulnerability scanning, and security monitoring tools.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell preferred).
  • Experience in regulated environments (DoD contractors, aerospace, manufacturing, or similar).
  • Linux (Ubuntu / Docker) experience a plus.
  • Relevant certifications (Security+, CySA+, CISSP, Microsoft, or similar).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to tolerate exposure to manufacturing environments, including moderate noise levels, vibrations, and varying temperatures.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required, Such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

On the production floor, PPE is required depending on department and product (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection).
