Job description

Job description

Stellar Technologies is a fast-growing technology services company, delivering private cloud, dedicated managed IT services, cybersecurity services, and infrastructure consulting. As an engineer-led company that provides services for a wide variety of industries, Stellar is the perfect place to level up your career.

ARE WE RIGHT FOR EACH OTHER?

We''''re looking for someone who...

  • ...is passionate about technology, especially compute and network infrastructure
  • ...needs to understand how and why things work
  • ...is ready to dive into unknown situations and learn new things

You''''re looking for a company that...

  • ...provides exposure to a wide range of technology
  • ...pays employees fairly based on performance, not title
  • ...takes engineers seriously
  • ...truly cares about its people

WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING, EXACTLY?

At Stellar, we use a lot of technologies to deliver our services. As our Senior Network Engineer, you''''d be exposed to some cool stuff: Cloud, Cybersecurity, End User Computing, Virtualization, Storage, Networking, SD-WAN, Business Continuity, Compliance, and more. Can''''t decide between working for a service provider, an enterprise, or as a consultant? Why choose? At Stellar, we get to do it all.

We anticipate our Senior Network Engineerโ€™s time being split between:

  • Working on and building Stellarโ€™s enterprise-native cloud platform.
  • Provisioning new cloud customer networking. Youโ€™ll get to work with technologies like EVPN VXLAN, MPLS L3VPN, Palo Alto Networks (and others!) Next Generation Firewalls, VMware NSX-T, IPv6, and BGP routing, to name a few.
  • Proactively monitoring and troubleshooting internal and customer network infrastructure for stability and performance.
  • Maintain and improve existing, and build new, network automation and observability services.
  • Acting as Stellarโ€™s final boss with networking: youโ€™ll take escalations from and mentor other engineers on networking problems.
  • Leading the more complex customer networking projects and deployments.
  • Maintaining and improving internal and customer documentation.
  • Partnering with existing and new carriers and developing peering relationships with prospective peers based on analysis of network traffic trends.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED?

When it comes to working in IT, we firmly believe that work ethic, aptitude, and passion go light years further than a college education. Certifications only go so far, and while we like to see them, theyโ€™re not a requirement. For this position, we''''re looking for someone who fits the following:

Abilities

  • Experience working directly with customers in person or via collaboration tools. In other words, you''''re used to talking to people you may or may not know and take pride in lending a helping hand.
  • Experience as a senior member of a technical team and youโ€™re prepared to mentor and cross-train.
  • Experience with ticket/case management systems to track work and time for clients, and youโ€™re comfortable owning a ticket or project from start to finish with minimal oversight.
  • Extensive experience using documentation systems: you take pride in creating documentation that peers can follow.
  • Can work with team members across multiple geographic locations and time zones to ensure thorough completion of tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.

Technical Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a network engineer in a Service Provider and/or Enterprise CampDatacenter environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years operational experience with at least two of the following: Juniper MX / SRX / EX platforms, Arista switch platforms, or Cisco Catalyst / Nexus / ASR platforms
  • Minimum of 5 years operational experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
  • Extensive operational experience with routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and/or IS-IS.
  • Extensive operational experience with networking protocols and standards including EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, VRRP, LACP, IPv6, VLANs.
  • Operational experience with service provider technologies like MPLS L3VPN, MP-BGP, Segment Routing, and/or LDP.
  • Experience with deployment and operation of Palo Alto Networks Panorama for centralized firewall management in a multitenant environment.
  • Extensive operational experience with IPsec VPN tunnel provisioning across multiple firewall and/or router platforms.
  • Operational experience with configuration and troubleshooting of cloud and hypervisor networking.

Bonus Points

  • Operational experience with NetBox for data center inventory and resource management.
  • Operational experience with NetFlow/sFlow/J-Flow collection and analysis in a service provider context.
  • Operational experience with at least one scripting language (Python, Go, etc.).
  • Operational experience with VMware vSphere / vCenter basics.
  • Operational experience with VMware NSX-T.
  • Operational experience with network automation platforms or tooling such as Ansible.
  • Preferred Certifications: Juniper JNCIP-SP, Juniper JNCIP-ENT, or higher.
  • Preferred Certifications: Cisco CCNP Service Provider, Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Cisco CCNP Data Center, or higher.
  • Preferred Certifications: Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).

BENEFITS

We care about our people, remember? At Stellar, we offer:

  • 100% Employer-paid medical insurance
  • 100% Employer-paid dental & vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • 4 Weeks PTO/Vacation per year starting on day one
  • 401(k) with employer matching after a year of service
