What are some common challenges EMTs face during shifts and how can they manage them effectively?

EMTs often encounter unpredictable situations, such as responding to high-stress emergencies, working in all weather conditions, and managing physically demanding tasks like lifting patients. Additionally, they must make quick decisions while remaining calm and compassionate. Effective stress management, strong teamwork, and regular training are essential to help EMTs handle these challenges and maintain their well-being, ensuring they can provide the best care to patients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EMT in Indiana, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EMT in Indiana, you need strong emergency medical knowledge, rapid assessment skills, and state certification (typically via completion of an approved EMT program and passing the National Registry exam). Familiarity with ambulance equipment, electronic patient care reporting systems, and knowledge of protocols for emergency response are important technical requirements. Excellent communication, composure under pressure, and teamwork make EMTs stand out in high-stress situations. These skills and qualities are vital for delivering swift, effective care and ensuring patient safety during emergencies.

What are EMTs?

EMTs, or Emergency Medical Technicians, are healthcare professionals trained to provide emergency medical care to sick or injured people, typically outside of hospitals. They respond to 911 calls, assess patients’ conditions, perform basic life-saving procedures, and transport patients to medical facilities. EMTs work as part of emergency response teams, often in ambulances, and are vital in stabilizing patients before they reach the hospital.

Restoring Peace of Mind
From local wildfires, residential and commercial floods to hurricanes in the Gulf, families and businesses have come to depend on ServiceMaster EMT to restore their sense of normalcy after a disaster. When disaster strikes, the people of EMT are there not only to provide the knowledge, experience, and equipment to start the rebuilding process but are there to comfort and provide support and guidance to those whose lives have been devastated. For us, this mission is about both the people and their property allowing us to truly Restore Peace of Mind.
About ServiceMaster EMT:
ServiceMaster Emergency Management Team is an industry leader in Southern California and Nevada. At every level we have career minded individuals happy and proud to be part of our team and are looking for more. ServiceMaster EMT is growing throughout Southern California & Nevada with offices in Ventura, Los Angeles, Lake Forest, Ontario, Riverside & Henderson NV. We are the largest ServiceMaster franchise in the southwest and are constantly looking to grow our team to meet the increasing demands of our industry.
Senior Business Development Executive – Commercial / Large Loss
Location: Southern Nevada
Compensation: $150,000 – $175,000 base + uncapped commission
ServiceMaster EMT is seeking a high-performing commercial restoration sales professional with experience in large-loss and CAT response.
This role is for a proven producer who can generate revenue quickly through established relationships
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and close commercial and large-loss opportunities
Build relationships with property managers, consultants, adjusters, and ownership groups
Identify and pursue high-value accounts
Collaborate with operations and estimating teams
Requirements:
5+ years commercial restoration sales experience
Proven history of generating commercial revenue
Strong network in Southern Nevada
Ability to sell complex and large-scale projects
What makes this role different
You are expected to create qualified opportunities quickly, not spend 6–12 months trying to enter the market.
You will have operational depth behind you: estimating, project management, emergency response capability and broad service lines.
You will be compensated like a producer, with uncapped upside and a real support package.
What you will own
Build and convert a pipeline of self-generated mitigation and reconstruction opportunities across your assigned Southern California territory.
Open doors with insurance agents, brokers, adjusters, plumbers, HVAC partners, property managers, facilities leaders and other referral sources.
Re-activate dormant relationships, take share from competitors and turn first jobs into repeat account relationships.
Represent EMT in the field daily, coordinate handoffs to operations and estimating, and stay involved through the client experience.
Maintain disciplined CRM activity, account plans, pipeline visibility and weekly forecasting.
Hit 30 / 60 / 90-day activity, opportunity and revenue targets.
What success looks like
Qualified opportunities in the first 30–60 days.
Booked work in the first 60–90 days.
A growing mix of repeat referral accounts and self-generated jobs, not just one-off emergency calls.
A reputation inside EMT for bringing in work that can be executed well and collected cleanly.
What you must bring
5+ years in restoration business development or outside sales in Southern Nevada.
Verifiable track record of self-generated revenue in water, fire, mold, environmental and/or reconstruction services.
Existing local relationships that can realistically produce near-term opportunities.
Ability to explain your recent production by channel, average job size, close ratios and how you personally sourced the work.
Working knowledge of emergency response, restoration operations, insurance workflows and reconstruction handoff.
Professional presence, strong follow-through, valid driver’s license and willingness to be in the field every day.
What you will be asked to prove
Trailing 12–24 month production history (redacted is fine).
Examples of accounts you personally opened and grew.
Specific Southern Nevada relationships you can activate in your first 90 days.
References who can validate both your sales performance and your quality of handoff to operations.

Flexible work from home options available.
