Job description

Position Title: First Aid Attendant / Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Department:ย Projects

Reports To:ย Site Operations Superintendent

Position Summary

The First Aid Attendant / EMT is responsible for providing emergency medical response, first aid treatment, and occupational health support for employees, contractors, and visitors at the Blue Moon Metals project site. This position plays a key role in emergency preparedness, incident response, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality medical care, maintain emergency response readiness, and work closely with site leadership to support Blue Moon Metals' commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to workplace medical emergencies and provide first aid and emergency medical care within the scope of certification.
  • Assess injuries and illnesses, stabilize patients, and coordinate transportation to outside medical facilities when required.
  • Participate in site emergency response activities, including rescue support and emergency drills.
  • Maintain emergency response equipment, first aid stations, and medical supplies in a state of readiness.
  • Provide first aid for work-related injuries and illnesses.
  • Maintain accurate medical treatment records while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Assist with fit-for-duty evaluations, wellness initiatives, and return-to-work programs as directed.
  • Support occupational health monitoring and employee health education.
  • Participate in emergency response planning, training, and exercises.
  • Conduct routine inspections of first aid equipment, emergency vehicles, eyewash stations, AEDs, and related emergency equipment.
  • Assist with incident investigations by documenting medical response and observations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee education and participation in safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate treatment logs, inventory records, inspection reports, and regulatory documentation.
  • Monitor medical supply inventories and coordinate replenishment of first aid equipment and medications.
  • Prepare reports related to medical incidents, emergency response activities, and equipment inspections.
  • Support compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, and emergency response requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Certifications

  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification required.
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced First Aid certification required, if applicable.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of two years of EMT, industrial first aid, emergency response, or occupational health experience preferred.
  • Experience in mining, construction, industrial, or remote work environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong emergency assessment and patient care skills.
  • Knowledge of occupational health, emergency response procedures, and first aid practices.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies across an active mine site.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and assist injured individuals in accordance with safe patient handling practices.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an industrial or mine site EMT.
  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training (or ability to obtain).
  • Incident Command System (ICS) training.
  • Experience participating on industrial emergency response or mine rescue teams.
