Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical (M/S RN)

Location - Atlanta, GA

Duration - 6 Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical (M/S RN) to join a hospital-based clinical team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience and strong clinical skills in caring for a diverse patient population.

The M/S RN will provide comprehensive nursing care, monitor patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams, and ensure accurate and timely documentation within EPIC.

Patient Population

The M/S RN may care for patients across multiple specialties, including:

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical/Surgical patients throughout hospitalization.
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments.
  • Monitor vital signs, clinical status, and changes in patient condition.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, treatments, and other interventions according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care.
  • Care for patients recovering from surgical procedures and trauma.
  • Provide care for patients with urological, gynecological, orthopedic, ENT, vascular, and medical conditions.
  • Monitor patients for complications and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Perform wound care and other nursing procedures within scope of practice.
  • Assist with patient mobility, activities of daily living, and safety needs.
  • Implement individualized nursing care plans.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatment plans, procedures, discharge instructions, and ongoing care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, technicians, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in EPIC.
  • Follow infection-control, patient-safety, medication-administration, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in patient handoffs and maintain clear communication with the care team.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency patient-care situations.
  • Promote a safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience.
  • Strong experience caring for adult medical and surgical patients.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Strong medication administration and patient-care skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Flexibility to care for patients across multiple specialties.
Preferred Experience
