Job description

Job Responsibilities     Do you have a passion to provide meaningful contributions to your community. If so, the SC Department of Social Services has the right job opportunity for you.

Job Duties: The Employee Relations Consultant implement and coordinate the employee relations program for assigned regions of the state comprising over 2000 employees. Counsel and advise all levels of agency management on disciplinary, performance and HR policies, state and federal HR regulations and laws. Provide guidance and instruction to agency employees regarding the agency complaint and grievance processes, general policy and HR laws.

Plan and conduct training on EPMS, Disciplinary policies and HR laws and regulations. Implement the agency's compliance and response to the EEOC. Coordinate with management and the DSS Office of General Counsel to ensure fair and accurate application of the disciplinary policy and guidelines.

Conduct investigations and make recommendations for resolutions to employee complaints. Manage the internal agency grievance process to include interpretation and complete coordination to final agency decision. Coordinate internal mediations as requested.

Maintain statistical records on all actions taken by the agency. Coordinate & implement the FMLA process. Disseminate information to staff ensuring notification of rights and eligibility.

Create and provide regular training to management to ensure accurate implementation. Coordinate with DSS Legal Counsel and county/division supervisors to provide the agency's response to all S.C. Human Affairs and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission charges

Oversees the HR administrative and county level collection of all information related to the charges. Coordinate with the HR & ER Director to review and updated various HR polices for federal/state compliance. Ensures personal identifying information is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared and disposed.

Protects agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data. Completes other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's Degree and at least two (2) years of applicable experience in Employee Relations or training.

A Master's Degree or higher may be substituted for the required work experience.
