Job description

Location: Sycamore, IL & Surrounding Counties
Pay: $80K Salary (DOE) + Bonuses / Commissions & Benefits!

Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
  • Develop and execute strategies to generate new commercial and industrial electrical business
  • Identify, prospect, and establish relationships with general contractors, developers, building owners, facility managers, municipalities, and end users
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, referrals, and market development
  • Identify upcoming construction projects and position Swedberg Electric early in the sales cycle
  • Develop new accounts while expanding relationships and revenue with existing customers
  • Conduct client meetings, site visits, presentations, and sales calls to understand customer needs and identify opportunities
  • Prepare proposals, budgets, presentations, and project solutions in partnership with estimating and operations teams
  • Negotiate opportunities and help convert qualified leads into awarded projects
  • Participate in industry associations, networking events, trade organizations, and community activities to expand the company's presence
  • Develop and maintain a strategic target-account list and consistently pursue new opportunities
  • Track sales activity, opportunities, and pipeline development through the company's CRM and reporting processes
  • Partner with estimating and operations to ensure opportunities are properly qualified, scoped, and positioned for success
  • Represent Swedberg Electric professionally and promote the company's reputation for quality, responsiveness, and customer service
  • Build long-term customer partnerships that generate repeat and referral business
  • Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer needs to identify new growth opportunities

Client & Account Development
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for key customers and prospects
  • Develop trusted relationships with decision-makers and influencers
  • Conduct regular customer touchpoints to uncover upcoming projects and additional service needs
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and increase share of customer spend
  • Maintain strong communication throughout the sales process and ensure a seamless transition from sales to operations
  • Help develop long-term account strategies focused on revenue growth and customer retention

Preconstruction & Estimating Support
  • Collaborate with estimating teams on budgets, proposals, takeoffs, and scope development as needed
  • Participate in preconstruction meetings and client presentations
  • Assist with conceptual budgeting, value engineering, and project strategy
  • Coordinate successful handoff of awarded opportunities to the operations team

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical construction, commercial construction, business development, sales, project management, or a related field
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and generate new business
  • Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical construction
  • Existing relationships with general contractors, developers, owners, or commercial/industrial customers preferred
  • Strong understanding of the commercial construction project lifecycle
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, scopes of work, and estimates
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting, account development, and closing opportunities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly self-motivated with an entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously
  • Electrical estimating or contracting background preferred
  • Experience working in an IBEW union environment strongly preferred
