D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Senior Land Development Manager - WA. The right candidate is to manage the Land Development Managers and Project Managers for quality, consistency and efficiency of the development process of raw land into lots to enable the construction of single and multi-family homes and institute procedures to be followed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise and manage employees in Land Development, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Conduct business operations for Land Development

  • Assist and support master planning efforts

  • Oversee management of the Milestone Schedule as it relates to the Division's business plan

  • Coordinate land development activities with ongoing agricultural operations to facilitate the timely transition of land uses

  • Plan, direct, and manage land development activities including planning, engineering design, entitlements, scheduling and development

  • Develop policies for usage, sale of properties and the construction schedule

  • Budget for, and manage the planning and design for the construction of the entrances, lots, amenities and associated infrastructure for company communities, including road, drainage, water, sewer, landscaping, utilities, paving, amenities, etc.

  • Represent DR Horton in interfacing with government officials, utility companies, and the public in matters related to entitlements and infrastructure development

  • Must be willing to drive extensively and travel between development sites

  • Communicate the status of development projects to the other team members

  • Work well with city inspectors and third-party contractors

  • Review plats and engineering plans pertaining to land development

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

  • Ability to travel overnight

    Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management or related field

  • Ten years of related experience and/or training

  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Problem solving and time management skills

  • Ability to develop cost-effective solutions as challenges arise

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

  • Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions

  • Experience in development of master planned communities is a plus
