Position Overview 
The Employee Benefits Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing an assigned book of employee benefits clients while supporting the retention and growth of agency relationships. This role works closely with employer groups, insurance carriers, vendors, and internal teammates to provide proactive service, coordinate renewals, review benefit programs, and deliver strategic solutions that align with client objectives
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, consultative, responsive, and committed to delivering exceptional client experience. Most importantly, you enjoy building trusted relationships and helping organizations provide meaningful benefits to their employees. 
What You'll Do
Client Service & Account Management 

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned employee benefits clients. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through proactive communication and exceptional service. 
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, COBRA, eligibility, and related employee benefit programs. 
  • Coordinate client service requests with carriers, vendors, and internal team members. 
  • Maintain complete and accurate client records within agency management systems and carrier platforms. 
  • Support client onboarding, implementation, and ongoing service needs. 


Renewals & Account Retention
 

  • Manage the annual renewal process for assigned accounts. 
  • Coordinate renewal timelines and gather necessary underwriting and census information. 
  • Analyze renewal information and prepare client-ready proposals and comparisons. 
  • Present renewal options and recommendations to clients. 
  • Coordinate carrier negotiations and assist in securing competitive benefit solutions. 
  • Support client retention efforts through proactive service, strategic planning, and relationship management


Benefits Strategy & Consulting
 

  • Assist clients with benefit plan design discussions and recommendations. 
  • Educate clients on market trends, carrier changes, compliance updates, and available benefit solutions. 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance client benefit programs and overall employee experience. 
  • Assist in identifying cross-sell opportunities and additional solutions that support client needs. 
  • Partner with Producers and consultants to support strategic client initiatives. 


Carrier & Vendor Management
 

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with carrier and vendor partners. 
  • Coordinate carrier meetings, implementation activities, and service issue resolution. 
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure timely responses and positive outcomes. 
  • Monitor carrier performance and service standards. 


Compliance & Administrative Support
 

  • Assist clients with benefit-related administrative and enrollment processes. 
  • Support compliance initiatives related to employee benefits programs. 
  • Ensure all client files, communications, and documentation are maintained accurately and thoroughly. 
  • Maintain compliance with agency procedures, carrier requirements, and industry regulations. 


What We're Looking For 


Qualifications
 

  • Active California Life & Health Insurance License required. 
  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Minimum 5 years of Employee Benefits insurance experience. 
  • Experience managing employer group benefits accounts. 
  • Strong understanding of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, and related employee benefit programs. 
  • Experience working directly with insurance carriers, vendors, and employer groups. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service and relationship management abilities. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and benefits administration technology platforms. 
  • Experience with mid-market - large employer groups. 
  • Experience in preparing renewal analyses and benefit comparisons. 
  • Knowledge of employee benefits compliance requirements, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HSA and Section 125 plans. 


Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Knowledge of large-market self-funding, level-funding 
  • Experience with HRIS, benefits administration, and enrollment platforms – EASE and Employee Navigator 
  • Familiarity with Zywave / Brokerage Builder,  or similar agency management systems. 
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
