Job description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of complex power distribution and electrical systems. This role will be responsible for electrical system architecture, component selection, design analysis, compliance activities, validation testing, and product development from concept through production release. The engineer will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable and compliant products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems, power circuits, and distribution architectures
  • Define electrical requirements and create detailed design solutions
  • Perform electrical analysis including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination studies
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and component specifications
  • Design and execute validation testing for electrical products and systems
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards
  • Support certification and regulatory approval activities
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to optimize designs for manufacturability
  • Support product launches and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience designing electrical power systems and distribution equipment
  • Experience performing electrical analysis and system calculations
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD and analysis tools
  • Experience supporting new product development programs from concept through production release
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medium-voltage power systems
  • Knowledge of electrical standards including UL, NEC, IEEE, IEC, and CSA
  • Experience with protection coordination, arc flash, and short-circuit studies
  • Experience integrating transformers, switchgear, breakers, contactors, and power electronics
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design and compliance testing
  • Experience developing and executing electrical validation plans
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers
